CREATE - IN AT THE DEEP END Vol 1
This is the first of my quarterly zines, a new body of work that will unfold over the next twelve months, exploring different aspects of my photography. Each edition of CREATE is intended to be a focused chapter, and this first volume is rooted firmly in Liverpool, a city I’ve returned to time and time again with my camera. Within its 60 pages, this zine documents not just photographs, but years of quiet commitment, observation, and walking the streets after the working day had ended.
The zine brings together 58 images made across the city, capturing passing characters, layered architecture, reflections, light, and atmosphere, my own interpretation of street photography shaped by repetition and familiarity. Many of these photographs were made after work, often heading straight into the city with little more than a few hours to spare. Over the past three years, those evenings became a ritual: stepping out into changing weather, fog, rain, artificial light, and near-empty streets, allowing the city to slow me down and absorb the weight of the day. Photography became less about chasing moments and more about being present, returning to the same streets, corners, and pathways until they revealed themselves in subtle ways.
These repeated visits formed a deep connection with Liverpool and with my practice. Walking without expectation, learning the rhythms of the city, watching how people moved through space, and noticing how light fell differently each night became a form of release a practice and learning exercise. The camera offered clarity and calm, a way to process the stresses of daily life while quietly building a body of work over time. CREATE: In at the Deep End is the result of those countless after-work walks, a collection shaped by patience, familiarity, and the simple act of showing up, week after week.
The first edition of the CREATE series is available now. You can purchase CREATE: In at the Deep End as a physical zine or digital download, with all proceeds going back into the making of future CREATE volumes.
CREATE - LOST & FOUND IN TREEDOM Vol 2
My next zine features a large and carefully curated selection of my woodland and tree photography, work that comes from a place far deeper than simply going out to make images.
Into the trees we go, my favourite place to be. Not just with my camera, but with time, patience, and intention. To walk slowly among these quiet giants is to feel part of something much older than ourselves. I am endlessly drawn to the layers of life that exist within woodlands, from the soft, damp understory alive with moss, fungi, and fallen leaves, to the twisting trunks and weathered bark, and finally to the limbs reaching skyward, catching light, mist, and seasons as they pass. Every visit offers something different. A change in colour, a shift in light, a new sound carried on the wind.
Being in forests gives me perspective. It strips away noise and urgency and replaces it with stillness and clarity. Among trees, time feels slower and more honest. There is a sense of gratitude that comes from standing in a place that continues quietly without asking for attention, yet gives so much in return. These spaces ground me, calm me, and remind me why I create. They are places of reflection, of healing, and of deep connection.
With that connection comes responsibility. Woodlands and forests are worlds within worlds, complex, fragile ecosystems that support countless forms of life. They are not simply backgrounds or locations, but living systems that deserve care, respect, and protection. As photographers, walkers, and visitors, we are witnesses to their beauty, but also to their vulnerability. Preservation matters. Protecting these spaces ensures that future generations can experience the same sense of wonder, peace, and belonging that I feel every time I step beneath the canopy. To lose them would be to lose something essential, not just to nature, but to ourselves.
The story of life has unfolded within each of these photographs. They are not just images, but moments, memories, and quiet conversations between myself and the landscape. Each frame holds a piece of time, a feeling, a breath taken in the forest air. While I am proud of all that I create, this body of work holds a particularly special place in my heart.
I hope this zine brings you a sense of calm, connection, and joy, and that these images invite you to slow down, look closer, and perhaps feel drawn back to the trees yourself. It has been a privilege to create this work, and a pleasure to share it with you.
