Into the Darkness…

We have turned the corner and the dark nights are here!

I used to dread this time of year, but now I see it as a wonderful opportunity to venture out on late night walks, searching for enchanting pockets of light or creating something truly unique while testing my skills with the camera. It provides me with any excuse I need to step outside and capture a few compelling images. Tonight was simply a stroll to breathe in the crisp air and bid farewell to autumn, as I noticed a few flecks of beech trees desperately clinging to their bright yellow and orange regalia. As you may have guessed, I took my camera along with me. Inspired by the experience, I’ve decided to initiate a project on my website entitled "Into the Darkness." This project will showcase a diverse variety of styles, encompassing everything from captivating street scenes to the deep, shadowy woodlands, and even some local walks around town and back. It aims to provide a personal and experimental exploration of the magic found in winter nights.

Into the darkness, on the edge of light…

The theme is simple, I must find some light in the darkest of night and that’s it, the brief is in, so let the project begin. Why don’t you try it yourself and tag me @malidaviesphotography or the hashtag #intothedarkness #edgeoflight it can be anything you see but must incorporate some light in the darkness.

Below are a few abstracts to get me going. Looking forward to see what I can make and hopefully see a few images from yourselves. This project will also run next month on my Patreon community so come and join us to share your take on these winter nights. Click here to be part of the creative community.
